We received a slight amount of rain in December… enough to have our hills turn slightly green. It’s a little less depressing to look out the windows, but we know our water situation is in sad shape for this growing area. There is no rain forecast for the entire month of January. That is something we really don’t want to hear. We’ve been making it through so far – we just finished up the Satsuma Mandarin crop, but we are concerned about some of the later varieties that would benefit from more rain. The dry state puts the crops at risk if we get a severe freeze. We’ll keep hoping for more moisture in our future!
